Bertha Marie Ellett

Bertha Marie Ellett, 78, of Cutler, IL, and Pinckneyville, IL, died Monday, August 18, 2003, in Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, IL at 2:16 a.m. 

She was born in Cutler on August 4, 1925, a daughter of Philip and Emma (Dietz) Schwebel. She married Charles Ellett on August 6, 1966, and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1968. Bertha was employed by the former Steeleville Shoe Factory and was a housekeeper. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and babysitting, and was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville. 

Survivors include a niece: Mary Ann Saunders of Pinckneyville, three nephews: Albert D. Schwebel, Philip G. Schwebel, and Gary W. Schwebel and wife Teresa, all of Cutler, numerous grand nieces, great grand nieces, and great grand nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother: George Schwebel, and one sister: Christina. 

Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 20, 2003, from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday, August 21, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. till the time of Service, at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville. 

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 21, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, with Reverend Paul Holder officiating. Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian Cemetery.
